Alison Benbow
Working mainly in watercolour but often using pen, ink and soluble wax crayon as well, much of Alison’s work is inspired by landscapes and natural forms encountered and photographed in the Scottish Highlands and Northumberland: sometimes figurative, sometimes more abstract. (Work in progress - particularly abstract - tends to get propped up all over the place and in different lights in case ‘the next stage’ should become unexpectedly obvious, even if that means the art shouts to be turned round another way; it does happen!)
Well-honed drawing-board skills from a previous thirty-year career at innovative London design company Imagination - as a draughtsman, graphic designer and model-maker come to the fore in more technical commissions which range from favourite Italian lakeside streets and Venetian wine bars to classic racing cars.
