Amanda Blunden

Amanda’s semi-abstract paintings are emotional spaces, driven by a quest for solitude, where one can clear their head of 'noise.' Each piece evokes a sense of tranquility and beauty yet she is careful to counter this with a sense of intrigue, creating a silent drama.

Her approach is exploratory, featuring recognizable motifs that sometimes feel naive and intuitive, (a tree, a goalpost, or a bridge) contrasting thin threads of pastel suggesting fragility with strong, darker forms.

The process involves a push/pull response, constantly reacting to colours, forms, and marks. Pink is a persistent, nurturing, optimistic visual reference in her work.
