Anne Zieler

Anne's interest and training in ceramics began in Latin America with the discovery of Inca pottery. She later continued her practice in Europe, before undertaking a four-year traditional apprenticeship in Japan, followed by several years of studio practice in Singapore - experiences which still deeply influence her work.

Working primarily on the wheel with stoneware and porcelain, she challenges herself by pushing the limits of clay, exploring different shapes, techniques and firing processes. Through the addition of wood ash to her glazes, and the use of gold on selected surfaces, she develops varied textures and visual contrasts.

Driven by colours and shapes, as well as a minimalist sense of aesthetics, her aim is to make simple but delicate ornamental pieces that convey a sense of calm and harmony.
