Studying Fine Art and Psychology at University, Anya discovered a love for abstract expressionism. From her time as an Early Years teacher, she took inspiration from a child's ability to use their imagination, without limits or preconceptions. She creates paintings that play on the element of suggestion, inviting a personal response from the viewer. Paintings to remind you of a place you once visited or imagined. She paints using intuition, each painting forming over a lengthy process. Using layer upon layer of paint and textured medium to create her pieces. Paintings that elude to something, without being literal. Her compositions have an element of wonder, allowing the viewer to fill in the blanks.
