Kate is a ceramic sculptural artist working in stoneware.
Her work aims to evoke her interpretation of nature and form through clay. Sharing an observational, tactile approach, not just in the physical sense, but in holding a connection to her past and present, pulling emotion from it, turning it into a tangible sculptural form, creating a visual dialogue that connects the viewer.
Recently she has started to welcome the reconnection to her past work, in painting. Her gestural abstract approach is based on memory, emotion and instinct, portraying a soft landscape, a tactile blurring of time past.
Connecting paint with her present medium clay, her aim is to bring a quiet connection of the two, ensuring that they sit cohesively together, one doesn’t overpower the other and in doing so, creating individual ceramic paintings that enhance and complement a home, without over powering it.
